The regional Ambulance Healthwatch Forum has been refreshed for the North East to help improve services for patients.
NEAS is working with the 12 Healthwatch groups in the area to come up with a new style for the forums, which will be more two-way and engaging for members.
Healthwatch members will be able to request for service managers from NEAS to attend meetings and there will more scope for challenge.
NEAS has also committed to providing local level performance information for each Healthwatch area.
Mark Johns, NEAS Engagement Manager, said: “Our relationships with our local Healthwatch groups are extremely important to us and so we were keen to make sure that the Ambulance Healthwatch Forum worked for everyone.
“We’ve agreed to continue the Forum with new Terms of Reference, with the new group being more of a collaborative meeting allowing both Healthwatch groups and NEAS to table agenda items, receive feedback and raise issues.
“We’ve also changed the venue at their request to somewhere that’s more central.
“We also hope that by providing more localised information, we can help each group be more informed about what’s happening in their area.
“As a result of the changes, the forums have already seen an increase in membership attendance and we look forward to continuing and building on our relationships and partnership in 2015 and beyond.”
